This Privacy Policy explains how Kieran Hayes Photography ("we", "us", "our") handles personal data in connection with the Z8 Pro Guide mobile application (the "App") and any associated newsletter sign-up forms.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

2. How the App Itself Works

The App is designed to be privacy-first. The guide content, button references, calculators and cheat sheets all run entirely on your device. Specifically:

• The App does not require an account, login or registration.
• The App does not collect, store or transmit any personal information about you in normal use.
• The App does not contain analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels or behavioural profiling.
• Search history and any local preferences are stored on your device only and are never sent to us.
• The App works fully offline once loaded.

3. Newsletter Sign-Up Forms

The App contains optional newsletter sign-up forms. These are entirely voluntary — you only provide personal data if you choose to subscribe. There are two separate sign-up forms:

• Z8 App Updates — for app updates, new Z8 video tutorials and photography tips.
• Z Series Gear Deals — for special offers on lenses, flashes, accessories and software across the Z series range.

3.1 What we collect when you subscribe

If you submit your email address to one of our sign-up forms, we collect:

• Your email address
• Date and time of sign-up
• IP address and approximate location at the time of sign-up
• The source form (so we know which list you signed up to)
• A record of your consent (timestamp confirming you actively ticked the consent checkbox)

3.2 Why we collect it (lawful basis)

The lawful basis for processing this data is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. We use the data only to send you the type of email you signed up to receive. We do not sell, rent or otherwise share your email address with anyone other than the processor named below.

3.3 How we manage the list (our data processor)

We use MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania) as our email service provider. MailerLite acts as a data processor on our behalf and stores subscriber data on servers within the European Union. A Data Processing Agreement is in place between us.

3.4 Double opt-in

When you submit a sign-up form, MailerLite sends you a confirmation email. You are not added to the list until you click the confirmation link. This protects you from accidental sign-ups and gives us a verifiable record of consent.

3.5 How long we keep your data

We retain your subscriber data for as long as you remain on the list. If you unsubscribe, your record is deactivated, and we will permanently delete it on request. You can also request deletion at any time by emailing us — see Section 8.

3.6 How to unsubscribe

Every email we send contains an unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it removes you from the list immediately. You may also email us directly to be removed.

4. Affiliate Links

The App contains affiliate links to retailers and software providers including but not limited to Amazon, Adorama, B&H, Essential Photo, Neewer, Skylum (Luminar Neo) and ON1. When you click an affiliate link you leave the App and are taken to the third party's website, where their own privacy policy applies. We do not see, receive or store any information about your activity on those sites. We may receive a small commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

5. Third-Party Services Inside the App

The App makes use of the following third-party services. These services may collect limited technical data when their features are used:

• YouTube — embedded video links open in YouTube. Governed by Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
• Google Translate — used optionally to translate guide text into other languages. Activated only when you tap the translate button. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
• OpenStreetMap / Esri ArcGIS — map tiles for the Golden Hour and Moon Phase calculators. No location data is sent to us; tile servers may log standard request data such as IP addresses.
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim — used only when you tap the map to look up a place name. The map coordinates are sent to Nominatim's servers; no other personal data is shared.
• MailerLite — only loaded when newsletter sign-up forms are displayed (see Section 3).

6. Cookies and Local Storage

The App itself does not set any tracking cookies. It uses your device's local storage to remember small preferences such as the last calculator location you selected, so that information persists between sessions on your device. This data never leaves your device.

If you visit our website (kieranhayesphotography.com), separate cookies and tracking may apply on that website. Please refer to the website's own cookie notice.

7. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App's content is suitable for all ages, but the newsletter sign-up forms are intended for adults. If you are under 16, please do not submit your email address. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without verified parental consent, we will delete it.

8. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you live in the EU, the UK or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we hold about you (which, in practice, would only ever be your newsletter subscription record):

• Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold.
• Right to rectification — ask us to correct any inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data.
• Right to restrict processing — ask us to pause processing of your data.
• Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
• Right to object — object to processing based on consent or legitimate interests.
• Right to withdraw consent — at any time, by unsubscribing or emailing us.
• Right to lodge a complaint — with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) or your local supervisory authority.

9. International Data Transfers

Subscriber data managed by MailerLite is stored within the European Union. If MailerLite ever transfers data outside the EU, it does so under safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. The App itself does not transfer personal data internationally because it does not collect it.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. MailerLite, our processor, is ISO 27001 certified for information security management.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will also include a note in App update notes and (where appropriate) email existing subscribers. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

By using the App you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. By subscribing to a newsletter you consent to the processing described in Section 3.
